Say "Weed"- I mean, "Cheese"!

I started to write this blog with a mental Filofax full of pot jokes; mostly in the form of midnight cravings, Twinkie references and humorous paranoia. But all joking aside, according to the ACLU, there were 8.2 million arrests between 2001-2010 for marijuana. There were almost 1.5 million arrests for illegal drugs in 2015 alone.
The Center for Disease Control puts illicit drug use in the past month at 10.2% of the population. That's almost 33 million people. Basically, a lot of people need help - not judgement or incarceration.
I didn't know any of this until I signed up for the Support. Don't Punish Photo Contest. I knew the conversation existed but my own use of recreational drugs is limited to caffeine and an abundance of sugar. And I have yet to be pulled over for my Venti Caramel Macchiato Extra Shot.
Support. Don't Punish is a global advocacy campaign calling on drug policies based on health and human rights. Pretty good cause and EVEN BETTER, free t-shirt for the winner.
Here's how entering went:

(Source: www.supportdontpunish.org archived)
- Printed out the Support, Don't Punish logo (some folks just uploaded it on their device screen)
- Took a picture with it

I feel like the painting behind me is burning into my soul.
- That's me at my desk - sans a hairbrush and makeup. Don't judge.
- Posted on Twitter with #supportdontpunish

- Done!
Hoping to spread the word. The 3 likes and retweets on Twitter seem like I'm on that track.
Summary: Super easy to enter. Although the prize is circumstantial, the message is clearly received. I only wish that the content were more engaging so that I might pick up some more likes and engagement.
